Transitioning to 4G and 5G: What You Should Know

Earlier this year telecommunications providers Spark and One NZ unveiled plans for a phased transition from the 3G network to advanced 4G and 5G networks. By August 31 2024, One NZ aims to have fully deployed 4G and 5G networks, initiating the gradual shutdown of 3G.

You may have seen the news that by 31st August 2024, we’ll have rolled out 4G or 5G everywhere we currently have 3G, and we’ll start to switch off the 3G network from that date” - One NZ.

What does this mean for Fleet Managers?

If you’re wondering what it means for your Argus Tracking telematics hardware, don’t worry - we’ve got you covered!

Here at Argus, we’re always closely monitoring industry trends to keep ahead of the curve to protect the better interests of our customers, and in this case for example, we’ve planned meticulously to ensure there is no disruption.

Your hardware is already 4G compatible, meaning that:

  • There’s no need to purchase hardware compatible with newer networks.

  • You don’t have to disrupt your team by taking their vehicles off the road.

  • Your fleet has future-proofed hardware and is good to go!

This is thanks to the inclusion of Tracking Device Upgrades and Warranties in all our tracking plans (LOCI - 1 Year, VISI - 3 Years, MIDI & OMNI - Lifetime).
